PvP Tournaments
Have you ever played in a PvP tournament? Like, not just for ratings and stuff, but one that was broadcast live, covered by media, and had cash prizes?

I've watched the World of Warcraft arena matches at times. I think they are pretty cool. There is a nice cash prize as well.

I've never been good enough to compete in something like that, but I did have a good ranking a while ago. My rated team was neck and neck with the top team on the server, but we ended up finishing server 2nd. Not too bad though. It was a lot of fun still.

I'm not a big time gamer. However, if I were, then that would be a good idea. Anyway, How much are the average cash prizes? Is it as much as for some major chess tournament? Note, I haven't heard about this stuff much in the US, but I know they're big in South Korea.

If I remember right, the World of Warcraft arena tournies hosted at Blizzcon awarded like $250,000.00. I mean, it's not chump change, especially when you consider that it's just for playing a video game. You have to be good to compete at that level.

PvP in World of Warcraft isn't exactly known for being balanced, so you have to know the ins and outs of it all as well. I watched some of the battles last year, and it's crazy how fast some of these matches are.

Tournaments are the best really simple because we get that model when we can advance to the next level if we can beat our opponents. Apart from this thrill we have the prizes of course. :)

I've never played in one if there is any. All I can see most of the time are tournaments for either DoTA 2 or League of Legends. I always wanted to be a great player on both games but I think it really does need a lot of time and effort to play like a pro. Both games give tons of cash prices and bragging rights LOL!

Yeah, I think it's more about the bragging rights haha because what does it really matter if we are good if no one knows about it? :D Prize money is ok too though lol.

I've watched a few PVP tournaments but I have never actually entered into one. That's mostly due to the fact that I don't really play many PvP games. I have always wanted to enter tournaments for other competitive games that I play like Rainbow Six Siege but I just don't think I'm good enough to play competitively. Some of these competitive players are crazy good and I would not do well at all. And that's not because I'm bad either, I'm pretty good at Rainbow Six but nowhere near the level of some of the professionals that play the game. The prize money for some of these tournaments is crazy and life changing.

Yeah, you can win some big pots, which I'm sure motivates people. Still, I think some just love to play and to compete.

I'm not crazy good like that either, and I don't have the time to try to get that good. My vision isn't quite what it used to be either, so I don't see it ever being a thing for me.

I do enjoy watching others compete in PvP tournaments though. I'm blown away by the reflexes some of these people have. I mean yeah, obviously you need good reflexes for high level PvP. They counter so quickly that they must have every move in the kit memorized for every class and spec. It's wild.
