Dr Mundo
I just played a while ago and I think Dr. Mundo is one of the champs that I really like. Though a lot of people say he won't do a lot later on the game, I find him stronger the longer the game is. And aside from that, I can play Mundo on all the lanes, be it support, top, mid or jungle. He is tanky and even though he doesn't do a ton of damage, he can go head to head with an ADC. anyone here who plays Mundo?

I can't even describe how much i hated Mundo back in season 2 and 3 where he could just build tanky items and 1v5 my team. But in this meta it's definitely harder for him to have an impact since there are several champions which bring much more to the team than just pure tankiness.

Well I would agree, back then once you build pure tank ahead of the enemy team you would be unstoppable. But now, you might be tanky but he seems a bit squishy compared before. Though Mundo is still tanky but not that much like the seasons you said. I can still 1v5 the enemy team now as long as I'm ahead of them in terms of items built. But if two of their AD champs would have some AD items built, it would be quite hard for me to destroy the whole team. I can run and survive a bit but I would definitely die for sure if the enemy team would slow me down.

Mundo is a mid game champion. Early game he has no escape, mid game he can't be killed but late game (given that the enemy team has sense), he should be useless.

I might agree on Mundo being useless late game if I would be playing against platinum and challenger, but against silver and gold, they can kill me but it would really take them quite a while. Yes he doesn't have skills to set up the enemy team like Malphite does but I find Mundo more tanky than Malphite even in late game.
