Is Aion to similar to all the others?
Even though I think at last count, Aion had around 4 million subscribers so is obviously very popular, is it vastly different from all the other PVP games that are around at the moment? I have to admit that I haven't really played this much, but from what I have seen it doesn't do a great deal different from the rest of the games that we play. It's as if NCSOFT have just cashed in on the whole PVP popularity but not released a game that can offer anything different, or am I being a little harsh?

How many people on the forum play Aion, and if you do...what would you recommend about the game to set it apart from all the others and make us want to switch away from what we are already playing?

I think it's just another farming-farming-pay-farm game, like the NCSoft do and i really dislike the Faction Pvp system, atm i think that the private servers of every mmorpg are doing far way better than the official version, first because of the closed community, that mean:
- Possibility to explore every game content without having to farm so much
- Low botting
- Some server have removed every p2w items
- No money seller, no account seller, more competitivity

That's why i would like to see an "Archeage" private server, i think that every game should take the example of League of Legends and Counter Strike, they do not offer any advantage in buying item from the shop they still gain a lot of money from that shop (fashion item and various) and they become so popular because give to everyone the same possibility on the base of your skill.

So, when we will see an mmorpg like that, finally will be a really good improvement.
But atm there are a lot of mmorpg that try just to gain more money as possible from players giving them help in the leveling system or in the pvp, Lineage 2 and WoW have been popular just because of that system, but instead they got destroyed by the gold seller and account seller.

Until then, just play whatever you want, they will be all the same. No competition and p2w.

@exSnake, I do agree that most of the games being developed these days see the mmorpg genre as a bit of a cash cow that the game developers are milking for all it's worth. They'll look at the popularity of the long running games, see that they are still attracting huge numbers and want to jump on that bandwagon.

I don't particularly have an issue with that, as long as the games that are being developed are unique and different to what we've already got, but for the majority of games we see being released now, they're not. They are slightly different of course, but they stick to a well tried and tested format and I think players these days would like to see something more.

I think it's pretty much impossible to make an entirely different game, but in the case of Aion I think they are able to establish some gameplay differences. Overall, what's more important for me is that if the gameplay is good and entertaining.
